leaves are supposed to break down over years into thick fluffy black topsoil, with the help of fungi and insects like isopods!! Creatures live in there! They eat it! Stop killing them plz.
I have to add on, if you are worried that leaves take a long time to biodegrade (sometimes up to two to three years), just have a dedicated leaf pile in the corner somewhere in your garden or yard for nature.
