I got tired of waiting for someone I know to finish playing Chained Echoes so I could talk about the game with them and just wrote all my burning thoughts up as a critical essay. Sort of. There's a bit more to it than that, but you'll need to read it.

god, what is queer failure and how can we be better than everyone else

Today's my birthday and I feel pretty contently apathetic about it. This is a marked improvement over the bitterness I felt previously, but I think it's not exactly where I want to be. I like being enthusiastic about stuff, so why don't I care about this?

I wouldn't have guessed that a collaborative storytelling game could feel like it's gone off the rails, but this one certainly has. I'm just wowed by the work my players are doing and too excited to play in this space to be patient for our next session.
