I've always wanted to get into VS games and get like, legit good at them. I'm good at video games! I could be good at a fighting game! And I've tried, many times. The only one I'm any good at is League of Legends, but I keep trying fighting games or card games

And the main problem is that I am a goofy person.

I have a bad habit of wanting to play low tiers. I've been watching videos about Smash Melee today on the side, and I've been like "HMM WHAT IF I PICKED UP THIS GAME AND MAINED BOWSER"

I played Smash 4 semi-competitively and played Little Mac. I was actually a fucking scary Little Mac, but only if I wasn't playing against anyone actually good :)

:eggbug:being 'goofy' is actually fine in fighting games- you just need to find the right character that will enable you to run the kind of goofy stuff you want. don't be afraid to try out a bunch!

Melee with Slippi is a great way to get started if you're already interested in Melee. I don't 100% know what the vibe is like online but I know lots of people enjoy it.

As for other fighting games, the more recent ones will tend to have larger playerbases and thus more likely to have a decent number of players close to your experience level. Guilty Gear Strive is huge right now, Street Fighter 6 launches soon and should have a large playerbase at launch.

More recent FGs are also more likely to be beginner friendly, as there has been a big push for games to be more accessible to new and casual players.

Fighting games are a really rewarding hobby so I do recommend checking them out if you're even a little interested :eggbug:

I've literally never enjoyed a Street Fighter game I've ever played, but I have been wanting to get my hands on SF6 to give it a try! I really love the character designs and I can't wait to give Kimberly and Marisa a shot! I am really worried I'll just bounce off it like I have everything else though =n=

I do play Strive actually, occasionally. I'm not very good at it lmao

I do wish there were some good ways to get Saturn fighting game communities going but sadly Saturn on Fightcade is a loooong ways off lmao, I can get no one to play Fighting Vipers 1 or Fighters Megamix with me :P

Playing goofy is fine, but you would just need the constitution to know that you're improving even if you're not getting alot of wins. It can be frustrating but still fun if you know youre just playing for the experience and letting you win/loss rstio determine how good of a time you're having.
