nippon ichi software is releasing an actual new versus puzzle game called Yumeiro Yuramu (ゆめいろユラム) in the year twenty twenty three of the Common Era, and it actually looks kind of cool...! and it has cross-platform online (PS4/Switch) too!!

Yeah, the news yesterday was based on this one site that posts summaries of the latest famitsu mag a day early. I hope something official pops up online soon because the visuals are very cute, too

it's v exciting to see a brand new puzzle game coming from a big company!!

did they tease this at any point? I know they usually do a summer tease for things like a new disgaea but maybe I'm just associating this with the timing here, I'd be happily impressed if they're treating it like a flagship title

this sounds really dope though, curious to see what the pace of play ends up looking like

i don't think they teased it at all—the site that posted a summary yesterday said it's not the same as what NIS teased in the summer (looking at that tease, yeah the proportions on the character are completely different to the characters in this game).
I haven't followed NIS's releases too closely recently, but as far as I've seen, they've basically put all their games out at full price, so I can't say either way whether this is a "flagship" title. cross platform online must have taken a bit of effort though, so it looks like they are at least a bit serious about it, for sure.

edit: oh, it looks like it might be one of the games to celebrate the company's 30th anniversary—the game may pop up on NIS's page there

yeah, i wonder how the risk/reward will play out in terms of aiming to build a full-field monstrosity vs taking a relatively quick potshot

Yeah, it's the same term as the "melds" from mahjong. I dunno if they will localise the game but I wonder what English term they will use if they do (I'd personally consider "rune" as a kind of left-field but setting-related term)
