All this Audio Chosting makes me wish I had gotten into composing music.

I've tried many times, but every time I get software set up and look at it, it overwhelms me and I start panic before I turn it off and go to something else lmao I just don't think my brain is made for it.

Which like, is fine. I can write, and do art, so maybe I don't need the trifecta? I just love music though, so it's a little sad.

ok!! so the most mainstream/trad of these would be trackers thatll be first

  1. trackers, like milkytracker
  2. browser based "exploration" tools strudel/tidalcycles apotome, BeepBox< thats a little jingle i made in it lol
  3. finally for more deep diving and modular exploration/programmatic, PureData with automatonism
the most important thing, like the wonderful people below this comment have said is to have fun and experiment, do not be afraid to try something dumb even if it only sounds good for exactly 10 seconds
    u got this:eggbug-smile-hearts:

i'm honestly still in the stage of experimenting and absolutely getting overwhelmed by stuff. like, i have zero childhood musical background, i've been messing around with music for 3 years and never composed anything i'd describe as a finished piece yet, and the few things i've shown other people have almost all been like 30-second demos that I just played on my ukulele and recorded with a shitty webcam mic. I just really love music too, and I'm incapable of watching an episode of Bocchi the Rock without feeling an intense drive to create something, so here I am :p

as with a lot of things, I feel like the biggest obstacle for me is just finding something I wanna say that I can convince myself is worth saying? idk

i felt the exact same way not so long ago. the biggest thing i found to help me get started was to use any and all tools or techniques that seem fun or interesting, even if (or especially if) they let you "cheat".
there's a fun tool out there called "imitone" that lets you hum or sing down the microphone and translates it into MIDI notes, which is handy if you (like me) don't know very much about playing instruments like piano.

I've done music for what feels like more or less my entire life. There's so many ways to go about making music. If you're ever interesting in talking about it, you know how to get a hold of me. I think even going about ways that don't involve heavy use of a computer can be really fun and creative without having to do a lot of diving in menus and folders and what not. Even something as simple as a 4 track cassette recorder can be a bunch of fun for making neat ideas. There's a lot I could mention but I figure it would be easier over a conversation instead of through replies. Anything I can do to help :D
