Once again (they've been doing this like once every two weeks), Surugaya has a weekend of FREE SHIPPING!

Why is this important, and wtf is Surugaya? Well, Surugaya is a Japanese storefront that sells basically anything you could imagine. This includes RETRO GAMES. And they've got quite a collection! But why would I buy from Surugaya and not any American seller? Well, let's take a quick look.

Let's say for example, you're a fucking weirdo like me, and you're considering buying the Japanese version of Blue Stinger (which is the superior version btw)

Ah, less than ten dollars! How nice! How much would that cost on a US seller, like say, Ebay-

trek

Literally double. Not EVERYTHING is like this but pretty much everything is. And consistently, if the Ebay seller is a Japanese seller, its prices are usually pretty good but the shipping is KILLER.

These prices basically can't be ignored. Look up that JP exclusive game you've wanted in your collection for ages, and compare to retro stores around you and Ebay. Note: I am not responsible for you spending a lot of money. all I know is last time this happened, I spent 70 dollars on 250 dollars worth of Saturn games.

I also know people using this to get controllers for cheaper. There's plenty on this store, I'm sure I haven't found everything~

Literally after posting this, I noticed that Ebay was like "HEY YOU WERE LOOKING AT BUYING THIS COPY OF CULDCEPT, YOU STILL INTERESTED?~" and I looked. 16 dollars for Culdcept on Saturn. Went to Surugaya. 5.65. Literally 3 times less expensive.

I'm never going to want to buy anything JP from Ebay ever again.

For what it's worth, Surugaya's prices were even lower before they did the first free shipping promotion back in June. That cleaned out most of the super ultra rare stuff and some of the more screaming deals, but there's still lots of good stuff to be had.

But really I think it's more ebay prices just being completely insane more than anything else. I know a few stores that sell things for similar prices (plus ship) on ebay they just tend to not have super rare stuff.

Is it only certain consoles that have these price differences? : o most of the famicom games I’m looking at seem similar to ebay but I may just be looking at the wrong ones ^^
