I do this thing sometimes where I like, close my eyes and imagine myself sinking, into the ground. Just sinking until I am entirely covered, curled in a ball underground.
It weirdly calms me, but I imagine itd make others scream in horror lol

Yeah, that sounds pretty horrifying to me; but we all find different things comforting for different reasons.
hmm, not sink into the ground, but i very much would like to dig a little burrow and sleep in it
I had a period of my life where when I closed my eyes I regularly found myself picturing a piece of paper being crumpled up into a ball, but without anything doing the crumpling. This sounds pretty similar. Honestly I don't know if it was a stress thing or a calming thing for me.
my guidance counselor in hs taught me something similar, you close your eyes and imagine sand slowly filling the area you're in, so the sand would go up from your toes, legs, body, head. works to relax!
Liz you're wonderful but this is a nightmare for me.
Sounds similar to a common grounding technique used to combat insomnia, where you imagine yourself as a bag of sand or water, slowly leaking out until you're fully deflated.
That's interesting cause this DOES help me combat my actual insomnia lmfao cause it relaxes me so much, and distracts my brain a bit
