So yeah, the "final chapter" for TCotCI ended up being so long I'm dividing it up. Here's the first half. Second half, now chapter 23, will be up tomorrow sometime. xD
Probably for the better anyway. Got a big, intense action scene here, and it wouldn't fit in as well with the chill one I plan to upload tomorrow. What can I say? Some scenes just tend to get away from me.... xp

He furrowed his brow and looked around. He thought he’d heard someone say something, but it was so faint he couldn’t be sure. When he didn’t see anyone nearby, he assumed it was just a product of his still-groggy imagination and took another sip of water.
“...power, safety…”
Again, he looked around. He was definitely sure he’d heard it that time. But he still couldn’t figure out where it’d come from. “H… hello? Who’s there??”
“...whatever you want…”
“’Kou, is that you?” he nervously asked, still searching his surroundings. “Kalei? H-Hoku? Kani? ...Sunny??”
