Okay apparently I wasn't done ranting/venting.
The whole concept of twitter and sites like it is just the worst, and its insane popularity honestly makes me think very little of the average person. It's the worst fucking format, how the hell did it ever get so popular? Literally every argument I've seen in its favor is either complete nonsense or in fact a detriment. No, it is not more "easy" to use than any other platform, not even slightly. There's almost no such thing as a social media site that a 2 year old couldn't easily figure out and use. None of them are complicated. Stop with that garbage.
And the character limit.... I've seen some idiots tout that as a good thing! BULLSHIT! It encourages the worst behavior in people ala poorly-conceived "hot takes" and refusal to read more than a sentence or two before forming a heated opinion about something. And don't even get me started on the predatory, brain-rotting algorithms they use to keep people addicted, often through outrage baiting. To be fair other platform types also have that problem, notably Facebook- but at least Facebook has redeeming features! Not nearly enough to make up for the negatives and there's no way in hell I'll ever go back to it, but at least I can see potential positives there!
If you strip away the ownership, how it's run, etc., the concept itself and all the site's mechanics are just... the absolute worst. Why are people like this?! Seeing people praise sites like that is like seeing people rave about constant kicks in the groin and how much they love having their kidneys stolen.
Hell, it's not even outright praise half the time, to be fair. Other times you just have people resigned to it like there aren't millions of other far better alternatives out there. "Yeah it's awful but there's literally no other options =/"

It's like watching people drink raw sewage while being surrounded by numerous taps, bottles, cups, etc. of clean water, and saying "yeah it sucks but I don't want to die of dehydration"
Sorry but I am DONE having an ounce of sympathy for anyone that's been using Twitter (or "X") for years and refused to use anything else and now act like the world is ending because that site may no longer be viable for them. Hope Musky hurries up and destroys the site once and for all. Just a shame people are flocking to Bsky now. I hope that one dries up and dies too.
