So I decided to compare the stats so far for how that one short story is doing on the various sites I uploaded it to. Here's what it looks like so far:
| Site | Views / Hits | Faves / Kudos | Comments | Votes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AO3 | 50 | 3 | 0 | n/a |
| InkBunny | 28 | 1 | 0 | n/a |
| SoFurry | 30 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Weasyl | 2 | 0 | 0 | n/a |
| FurryNetwork | 0 | 0 | 0 | n/a |
...yeah, I don't know why I even bother with FN. That site feels like a dead wasteland.
I will say I'm disappointed in Weasyl. I like the way it presents stories, but I guess just not enough people use that site. Still gonna keep uploading there though, because I like the way things look there, and I'm hoping it'll gradually see more use as time goes by and Twitter/"X" continues to collapse.
And of course for the rest... lots of views but still no comments... yet. I do know I have a couple wonderful fans on those three sites, including three different individuals that do comment on my stories, with varying frequency, so this could change over the next few days. I just wish it wasn't so hard to get feedback on things. I'm always slightly anxious about whether I missed mistakes or plotholes or if things are clear enough, interesting enough, or whether certain character actions make enough sense, etc.
I did manage to get some lovely feedback on the Artconomy discord server about this story, which I'm extremely grateful for. As soon as they make that site more pdf-friendly (or at least some kind of format I can comfortably upload stories with), I'll be sure to start uploading my works there more as well.
Anyway, pardon the rambling. I sometimes just like to compare how my work does on various sites. I've even considered at least posting these shorter stories here on Cohost, even if it's still not an ideal setup for that kind of thing. Would be curious to see how it does. But I'd have to find a reasonably reliable and easy way to convert things to markdown, heh...
