words cannot express how much I hate Twitter/Bluesky. My hatred is amplified by the fact that everyone and their second cousin seems hellbent on clinging to the worst sites on the internet, often exclusively. And the 'reasons' given are utterly baffling at best, if not outright wrong, especially when compared to other sites. (No, mastodon and other alternatives are not in ANY way, shape, or form "complicated" or "confusing" AT ALL.)
I gave both aforementioned hellsites a fair shot. Hell, I didn't tell anyone about it, but I actually gave Twitter MULTIPLE chances over the years. It's just... such a hideously painful experience. How do people put up with it? It is the actual worst in every way! I've listed off my complaints about Bsky in another post like a week ago or so, so I'll refrain from doing so again here, but ffs people. Why?!
It wouldn't even be so bad if so many people didn't also almost exclusively use those damned sites. If they were also active in any of the dozen or more sites I'm on, I wouldn't care. But noooo.... it feels like with about 90% of people I have to choose between following/interacting with them in any way, and keeping my sanity even remotely in tact. Like I'm being held hostage.
I don't understand people. At all. Sometimes I refuse to believe we exist in the same reality. I'd rather wade through the fecal matter of 4chan or one of the other even more toxic chans/similar sites than try to actively follow and interact with people on Bsky or Twitter/X. And I'm pretty sure that'd give me viruses, but it'd still be more bearable.
