me playing ps2 games i haven't heard of before, but will definitely live in my brain and be inspirations for things going forward,,, Robot Alchemic Drive is probably one of my new favorite games of all time, and SkyGunner is sooo cute and full of world!!! i want to find so many more of these, so suggestions are welcome!! (they do not have to be ps2, but emulation is preferred)

have you played Jade Cocoon 2 (PS2)? For me it's kind of the premiere monster-raiser core of a video game, and emulates pretty well on desktop! playing Jade Cocoon 1 (PSX) is not required. It's in the Pokemon genre, not the Monster Rancher genre, to be clear; but its battle system is a really unique twist, and features character designs by Katsuya Kondō!
a friend of mine has actually suggested that i should play jade cocoon 1 recently, but if the saves for that don't work for me, i might check out the second one!!
