So far I can think of the following in terms of dickishness
- Game Over on Party Member death
- Game Over on Hero death
- Game Over on TPK
- Return to town with half money lost on TPK
- Return to town on TPK
Well, thanks to Far East of Eden: Ziria, I got a new entry
- Game Over on Party Member death
- Game Over on Hero death
- Return to town with half money lost on Party Member death
- Game Over on TPK
- Return to town with half money lost on TPK
- Return to town on TPK
It's weird to think about how Far East of Eden: Ziria has like this really fancy aesthetic and voiced animated cutscenes and CD audio, but then you look at what the most recent releases for the major JRPG franchises were.
- Dragon Quest III
- Final Fantasy II
- Phantasy Star II
- Momotarou Densetsu
- Megami Tensei I
- Zelda II
And then all the really archaic designs make more sense because it actually is kinda leinent for the era.
