It was cute when Dusk and the first wave of new boomer shooters came out but now the market is saturated and the level of quality is going down.
Fittingly enough, the exact reason why the OG type of boomer shooter faded away in the late 90s.
I've seen a number of people claim that Halo was the death knell of the OG era of boomer shooters and seem to hate it out of spite.
I really think these people need to take a fresh look at late 90s FPS again. The only two good Build engine games were Blood and DK3D and even DK3D has slogs for the last episodes. Pretty much everything else after Quake 1 was either mid or bad that wasn't an arena shooter.
