I haven't watched a sit-com regularly in a while. But during the lock-down phase of the pandemic, it seemed like the resurgence in Friends led a lot of people to notice that the main apartment on the show was ridiculous. Especially for a busker, a sous chef and a part-time coffee shop waitress / maid cafe host.

Have characters had to adjust to more realistic portrayals of living spaces or is this one of those turn off your brains and enjoy the situational comedy kind of things?

Maybe It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is the only show properly depicting millennial squalor.
