It's surreal and a bit hilarious to me to be hated so much for drawing art at varying degrees of suck and awesome over three decades and then be told I'm a piece of shit for doing it manually and for thinking my "scribbles" mean anything to anyone

He was pushing it as not wanting to hang around someone who thinks their non-AI scribbles are meaningful. I've heard that song before.

Like, there's always been this, "Oh, you're a good artist? You are an asshole, then" in creative spaces, and I feel like this guy's gotten a lot of shit for making basic-ass Poser porn.

Which...I'm sorry, but I wasn't a part of that? But it's telling that someone who doesn't even seem to use genAI (or at least nothing that I could see uploaded to his gallery) is up in arms about work ethic.

My post was more about the exploitative nature of genAI's infrastructure and for him he saw that as me saying "effort == meaning" which is a whole other can of worms, and I don't think he's ready for that conversation that some of the greatest art has come from someone duct-taping a banana to a blank wall.
