Vulnerability and honesty and earnestness are seen as something to crush, to flatten towards social expectations and acceptability.
If you express yourself in excitement about things that you are interested in, if it is the slightest bit weird, it is to be crushed
Some privileged few get to be "eccentrics"
Everyone else needs to be flattened
