How do I get back to my gaming schedule?
Or, more accurately, how do I get back to a game that I paused for nearly two months? Because that's really the most difficult thing for me right now. I really want to get back to playing Galerians, but I lost all of my muscle memory of the game.
Typically, it is extremely hard for me to get back into the groove of playing any game I dropped, especially when I am supposed to review the game afterward as well. In some cases, I would restart the game from the beginning or just drop it completely.
Yet, both of those options seem bad to me with this game. I might just need to rip the bandage off and get on with it.
Check out my latest PS1 Review of Wild Arms 2, an improved sequel to the early PS1 classic, albeit one with an infamously bad localization. Still, it is worth playing today.
Also, check out my blog where I ask Where the Hell is Wild Arms? A retrospective blog where I try to figure out why the Wild Arms series died, and explain why it would be great to have it back.
Finally, check out my weekly updates on the games I am playing now. The information in brackets is how long I have been playing the games and how close they are to the checkpoint that decides whether I continue with them.
-Nobunaga's Ambition: Awakening (Switch): I finished my playthrough with Date clan and I think I may have finally freed myself from the game. I played it a couple of times this week but felt mostly bored. I just need to enjoy the other games I am playing so that I don't get the urge to get back into the comfort of yet one more turn.
-Galerians (PS1) [2/3W, Pause]: Is anyone going to hold me accountable for my promises?
-Luigi's Mansion 3 (Switch) [4/4(+2)W]: It is clear that I am not enjoying this game as much as I thought I would when I started playing it. It is a fine game, but I felt I had more fun with the varied levels of Luigi's Mansion 2, and I may have preferred its brevity as well. As such, I am eschewing my need to get all collectibles and just going to rush through to the end of the game.
-Ori and the Will of the Wisps (Switch) [2/4W]: Ori and the Blind Forest was a fine game, but it sagged a bit in some parts and lacked precision in others. Its sequel does not suffer from any of those minor problems, and instead is simply a brilliant Metroidvania in all aspects. It plays beautifully in both its simple combat and complex platforming, and has a well-designed world map.
Graphically, the game's 2D artwork is gorgeous, and it pops better thanks to impeccable art direction and creature design. Accompanied with an excellent soundtrack, there is nothing to fault with the production of the game.
Perhaps its only fault is its performance on the Switch, which suffers from frequent frame freezes which, while annoying, are not game-breaking by any stretch.
-Yakuza: Like a Dragon (PS4/5) [0/5W, Pause]: Still deliberating if I want to start this game or if I am going to replace it with another game in the queue.
-Upcoming Games in my Backlog in Uncertain Order: Various Games (PS1), Pokemon Sword (Switch), Part Time UFO (Switch), Resident Evil Village (PS5).
