so a little while ago i got my hands on a snackbox micro for playing street fighter. i've been wanting to get my hands on a hitbox for a while mostly because i don't like playing six button fighters on a regular gamepad (it doesn't vibe with my brain for whatever reason) and back when i played sf4 and skullgirls i mostly used my keyboard.

the issue is that i do a lot of typing as part of my day job and now my wrists get sore pretty quickly even just typing on my keyboard at home. unfortunately now when i use the snackbox i also end up feeling pretty sore pretty fast. it's kind of a bummer honestly, especially when your dealing with aussie wifi. takes me awhile to even get a game and when i do i gotta stop or switch back to my gamepad.

i suppose the answer is probably just regular stretching and ergonomic stuff, but anyone else have issues like that? any other tips for dealing with it?

for me a big part of it is that the snackbox has kinda bad ergonomics when it’s on the same surface as your keyboard, if you have a thicker keyboard and if the desk and chair and stuff is set up to be rly ergonomic for typing and mouse work. I drop my chair down a little bit or raise the desk a tiny bit when i use the snackbox, and that tends to help a lot with wrist strain.

Another big thing for me is avoiding using the middle and ring finger on my left hand to do double quarter circle motions. Those two fingers share a tendon and i get crazy bad strain if i try to use them too often for quick alternating taps. It’s a little clunky at first, but i shift my hand over and use my middle and pointer finger to do the left facing quarter circle motions.

Other than that, i’ll play with the angle i have it on the desk so it’s not just sitting square in front of me the whole time. i’ll rotate it a little so the three main directional inputs are a little further away from me, just for a few matches to keep the motion from being so repetitive in longer sessions.

you could try a wider box to lessen strain on wrists. there is a smash hitbox called the B0XX that was designed specifically for a guy with a busted wrist to be able to play comfortably for extended periods of time. It does have a lot of extra buttons… but the button placement and the dimensions are the important part. I’m sure you can find a keybox with the same frame without those buttons too, or comission it from a controller maker.

unfortunately it's pretty unlikely i'll be able to buy another stick any time soon. i only jumped on this one because it was part of a special promotion. i live in australia so basically any fancy controller needs to be imported and that makes it extra expensive.

but i will keep the B0XX in mind for if i can find a way to get it cheaper. thanks for the recommendation!
