What the heck?! Why did they make it a timeleap story? What's going on here!?! the heck!? I did wonder how they were going to adapt the manga, but like - totally ignoring EVERYTHING that happens in it, creating a new lead character and inserting some supernatural time shenanigans was not something id have guessed... its... fine?? i guess? Fingers crossed this helps make the argument for some English language publisher to pick up the book i guess.

in reply to @LotteMakesStuff's post:

Having just watched episode 2, and having never read the manga, I can guess why they introduced the time travel element: 1) it makes it easier to do info dumps of interesting information in the guise of explaining things to Konoha. 2) It provides more opportunity for comedy as Konoha struggles to get things done with "technologies of the ancients".

For what it's worth, I'm enjoying the anime thus far, although as someone who actually had to deal with the computing technology of 1992 in my job and at home, I hope I personally never have happen to me what happened to Konoha.
