daily knowledge: i've discovered possibly the best method so far for lazy coffee. all you need is a cup, a coffee filter, a microwave, and coffee grounds.

put the coffee filter in your cup and put in your coffee grounds. pour water into the coffee filter and just make sure the filter doesn't fully sink into your mug (with a regular sized mug and regular sized filter it shouldn't be a problem). stick it into your microwave for about 2 minutes (or whatever works), then when you pull the mug out, lift the coffee filter out and use a spoon to press the filter into the side of the mug to squeeze out any coffee that's soaked into the coffee grounds.

boom. coffee. one dish, no coffee maker needed. it won't be quite as good as the fancy methods but if you need some coffee in a pinch i recommend it big time.

you can also boil water and coffee in a saucepan on the stove (boil for abt 2 minutes and then let it sit for a few more) and then pour it into a cup thru a filter (or even a tea strainer if you have coarse grounds) to get the grounds out. totally works.

Also, instant coffee can actually be pretty good. Try the tiniest pinch of salt if it's too bitter or burnt tasting, or making it with milk instead of water.

Ok this is genius but I have a recommendation. If you heat the water in the microwave first and then put the filter and coffee grounds in on top of it, it'll theoretically be kind of like doing a French press with more finely ground coffee (if your coffee is ground standard for a coffee machine) and a more dense filter. Then you can let it sit for... uhhh... maybe five minutes (I'm guessing based off of standard procedure for French press). It should yield a similar result minus the risk of changing the flavor of the beans from microwaving them at the expense of having to spend a few extra minutes on it. Definitely not an even tradeoff if you're strapped on time though, especially if you're using a medium or light roast coffee, microwaving it for a couple of minutes probably won't make it taste worse, just different for sure. (Sorry for the long comment, I used to roast coffee & worked in coffee for a long time so I'm a little passionate about it)

but a tip! if you haven't tried it out yet, experiment leaving the grounds on the filter and passing the hot water through them instead of boiling them with the water. It tastes different!

If the taste is better or worse depends on your preferences. But on the "lazy" side it also avoids the risk of the coffee getting overcooked and (badly) bitter!
