You can contribute to that fundraiser below. Please only give if you are financially able—attention or spreading of the link is perfectly fine enough of a difference to make.

Information on Palestine Children's Relief Fund from the fundraiser:

The main objective of the PCRF is to identify and treat every child in the Middle East in need of specialized surgery not available to them locally. We locate, sponsor and run international, volunteer medical missions to the Middle East, in additional to locating free medical care abroad for children who cannot be adequately treated in the Middle East. The PCRF is the main organization regularly sending injured and sick Arab children to North and South America, the Middle East and Europe for free care that is not available to them there. Since 1991 over 1,000 children have been abroad for millions of dollars of donated care, and over 10,000 have had complex surgery by our visiting medical missions to the region. The PCRF has been awarded the top 4-star rating by Charity Navigator for fiscal management, while being able to treat more kids than any other charity in the Middle East.

I've seen a few posts on my timeline the past couple days about how conversations on cohost don't typically center current events. Journalist, companies, and politicians are broadly absent on cohost, but they drive a lot of conversation on other platforms. I don't want to engage in discourse about this, and I'm especially not interested in going to bat for cohost as a platform about this, but I agree with those who have said that the lack of "culture war" on cohost is a feature, and also those who have pointed out an information vacuum on cohost. I would love to see a version of Cohost where information flows and humanitarian aid succeeds.

Importantly, I have not seen anyone here openly discourage conversations about politics. In fact, I'm nearly certain that anyone vocalizing support of an apolitical culture on cohost would be rightfully chased off the platform.

Personally, when I encounter politics I can't influence my instinct is to listen more than I speak. I'm opposed to the occupation of Palestine and the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip. My intention is never to be silent about matters like this, but to vocalize support with the absence of influence feels like posturing. So here is a marginally more impactful way for me to express solidarity:

I've donated $100 to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund. I can't personally speak to the reputation of this org, I found it on the Palestine subreddit and referenced it's score on charity navigator before donating. The only Palestine mutual aid network I could find closed donations last week. If someone here knows a reputable fund, I will donate again. I would encourage all who have the means to match or partially match my donation to this organization or another fund of their choice.

I'm like trying to force youtube's ad blocker nuisance prompt by clicking on videos I think would be loaded with ads and it's just not coming back, I think gaslighting may have actually worked
