The skin on the left is one I made in 2008, clearly inspired by Kingdom Hearts 2 and its integration of the world of Tron. That was one of my favorite worlds there, partly because of the very unique look but also because it was one of the few that got integrated into the story in a detailed way, rather than just a random spot Sora stumbled across. I was particularly proud of the sense of 3D depth I was able to include in the main window, though I now wish I had listened to the people who pointed out that the perspective was distractingly wrong on the control buttons at the bottom. They were right, but alas.

On the right is a skin I made in mid-2022. I'm in a discord relating to https://skins.webamp.org/ and a list was made of the most-searched terms that had zero results. Made sense that Vaporwave was on the list, as it has virtually no chronological overlap with Winamp's prime but has a clear thematic overlap. As I started to think of how I could implement a Vaporwave grid horizon into a skin, I remembered that I had already done that exact thing in the Tron skin.

It's always a little tough remixing a skin when I don't have access to my older PSDs from three computers ago, but I've gotten pretty decent with Photoshop adjustment layers to achieve effects like this. If I can get most of the look with an effect layer that I can re-apply across each skin file, the process tends to go fairly quickly, and then I can add individual touches like the distinctive Vaporwave sunset at the top. (You can still kind of see the shadow of the Tetris Cloud that this sunset replaced, a limit of not having source files, but acceptable).

You can play with these in Webamp: Tron: https://skins.webamp.org/skin/86ef97f56931b02433ec548260d427b5/TRON.wsz/ Vaporwave Edition: https://skins.webamp.org/skin/9dae27d5adc5001e3caa5a2ced790add/Tron-Vaporwave-by-LuigiHann.wsz/
