Visual novel sequel that continues AITSF's trend of being extremely funny, having very likable characters, and capping off a fun mystery with an absolutely bonkers twist and a dance number.

With some distance from my playthrough (I finished the game back in July—I'm still pretty behind on these game recommendation posts), I do think I preferred the first Somnium Files game though, largely because Nirvana Initiative's story kind of has to bend over backwards to avoid giving away its big twist. I enjoyed said twist in isolation, and thought that some of the ways that the game disguises it were pretty clever, but there were also some pretty dumb contrivances and it kind of gets in the way of some of the things I wanted to see from this sequel. I still really enjoyed the game and am looking forward to the next one, I just had high expectations and feel like there was some wasted potential.
