I really really liked the entire series of episodes leading to this one, and everything at the final parts of this episode was so sweet and satisfying. Also didn't realise how much I missed(? i don't even know if it's been that long since it last appeared) Storywriter until it came back for this episode. (ep 25 was also cool in its own way and had a bit of a Kino's Journey feel to it!). Really looking forward to how the second half of this very good, very 2000's show goes.

(shotouts to @mildoo for recommending this, i honestly don't think i'd watched it anytime soon otherwise.)

I'm sooooo glad you're enjoying it! Episode 26 and the runaway arc in general are absolutely some of my favorite episodes. 26 especially just has such a beautiful climatic moment and the most gorgeous setting. I'm so excited to see what you think of the rest of the series!

Also storywriter rules.

the runaway arc in general are absolutely some of my favorite

it's so good! i was specially happy with how they handled Renton's parting from Charles and Ray, since they are presented as kind of a goofy couple there i thought they'd do something leaning more comedic, but it had a good weight and gravitas to it that ended up being pretty cool.

And yeah 26 was really beautiful, in many ways! like also the animation as Eureka starts falling ๐Ÿ™

Ray and Charles feel exactly like what the show and Renton needs at that juncture. It's a breath of fresh air at the halfway point seeing a family of two that is built around mutual and open love and respect compared to the forever adolescent crew of the Gekko that up to this point is deeper into a state of regress than maturation.

They're tonally perfect as well imo. Maybe one of the best demonstrations of this shows ability to balance comedic levity with its massive teen angst emotions and 0079 politics of revolution meets Evangelion's occultic apocalypse vibe it's trying to swing. I don't think Eureka Seven has a 100% hit rate with this, but Ray and Charles are for me the zenith of it!

And absolutely! Episode 26 is probably my favorite in the series, it has some of its most beautiful and iconic shots!
