You can get one of these bad boys on your shoulders:

Peregrine Falcon

Did You Know

Peregrine Falcons can move at speeds over 240 MPH? (389 km/h?) . This makes them the FASTEST ANIMAL IN THE ANIMAL KINGDOM. They move so fast that when hunting, they will just use the brute force of their foot hitting an animal to kill something. (Though, I might be wrong, this website says "Stun")

4 Panel comic from False Knees. All 4 panels show a bird mid flight. 1st panel: So you want to learn about hunting midflight? Trust me: it's not as exciting as it sounds. 2nd panel: You're flying around.... doo bee doo... you see a target below you. 3rd panel: You tuck your wings in.... 4th Panel: and increase your speed to 200 kilometers per hour

A lot of falconers will start with the Red Tailed Hawk though:

These hawks are more common in North America, and so legally they're one of two birds you're usually allowed to start with (the American Kestrel being the other one).

The Rest is a Bit Ramble-y

I remember the first time I really learned about the Pergrine Falcon was in the book My Side of the Mountain. This was a book my step-dad loved, and passed down to me. I recently saw the other day they still print it (or, they have made an updated cover at least). Since reading the book in middle school, I always thought it'd be cool to become a falconer one day, if I ever had the money or time.

I only really got into learning more about birds in the past couple of years though, really being sort of spurred on by getting the game Wingspan, which is a board game that gives you facts about Birds as you play (or, the video game version does at least). I also had a job at a local dump, and began to just watch some of the birds while there wasn't much going on. The Cornell Lab puts out an app called Merlin that helps you identify birds. And lastly, I edit a podcast for work called "For the Birds". As I was getting more into learning about birds, my girlfriend would tease me a bit about how nerdy I would get over it. So we were at a bookstore, and I got her this book which accurately captures her opinion on the thing:

They even have a page for the Red Tailed Hawk!
