Lakenenland is a sculpture park make by a single artist of self-described Junkyard Art. It’s free and open 24/7. The sculptures can be split into four categories: abstract shapes, goofy animals, direct statement pieces, and “hell yeah, brother”. The artist is against the local township board and the union leadership that sank his pension fund. He’s a big fan of Governor Whitmer.
The land abuts the North Country Trail and I keep imagining the backpacker trying to make Marquette that day stumbling unaware across all this.
