about the connection between influencers and investment schemes and as I tend to do, looked for a way how this same trend can apply to videogames.
I think the biggest connection here are these occasions where larger streamers, or youtube personalities start spinning up their own Game development ventures, be it either studios, or publishers. We often talk about whether or not the people in question are qualified for it, but looking at this article, I think another important thing to consider is how these people are leveraging their audiences and for what purpose. I mean, if people are already buying games completely based on your word, why not directly take a cut?
Please don't confuse this as me making judgments about the developers who get involved with stuff like this. Folks need to pay their bills, I get that. I just think how very often, in the pressure to be able to pay your bills with games, people end up making decisions that might not be all that great in the long run.
But, I'm also without a job, my games barely sell and I am perpetually afraid of being taken advantage of by some weird grifter.
