So today is the submission deadline for the Igf and I pushed really hard, to get a new Build of Virtue's Heaven ready for it. Turns out that starting a major re-design of a lot of the game's core systems and progression system, which required me to scrap a bunch of work that was supposed to go into said build, made things rather difficult.

I ended up running out of time, so I finished the submission without updating the build first, but I should be able to do a sneaky update tomorrow.

I don't expect the game to get any attention anyway, so it's not that this would be a wasted opportunity, even if I wouldn't be able to update the game later. The main reason I decided to try this, was because I wanted to use the deadline as a way to force me to make more definitive decisions about the game's overall direction and that part did work really well.

Basically everything is now set up in such a way, that all I have to do is, you know make the game, which is still much, but I'm done with being confused about the game's direction. Also in the process of trying different approaches throughout this year, I actually managed to build out a ton things that I can still use for the final version, so I definitely did not waste all of the previous months making things that are completely useless now.

I'm really, really optimistic about this game's state now and that certainly wasn't something I felt a ton of over the last year. Sure, I felt good with what I made, but there was always something that just didn't sit right with me, so I kept changing plans. However, it never completely felt like I always went sideways, which each step, I got closer to the approach that I wanted and now that I'm basically there, I can't wait to see how this game will look in a few Months from now.
