Starting my new crusade that every game should have some form of brewing in it. Ideally unnecessarily realistic beer or wine. I don't actually drink but I've become obsessed with these games and let's be real: the space is so unexplored. Think of all the weird fucking yeast and sources of sugar you could be collecting in fantasy games. Maybe you use the power of a neutron star to crush your grapes. It enhances the flavour. IT WOULD BE GREAT
It’s true, every time I’m drinking a beer Aura asks me about the style and the ingredients/brewing technique. Feels like it’s the kinda thing where there’s a ton to get interested in even if you don’t consume the end product yourself
It's true.... I'm perhaps more succeptible to this type of interest than most because I love crafting games and I love unnecessarily detailed simulations and this is an excellent intersection of the two
In case anyone is curious, some recommendations:
-
Hundred Days, which is a somewhat confusing but interestingly detailed turn based winery sim made by an italian dev and set in real winemaking italy https://store.steampowered.com/app/1042380/Hundred_Days__Winemaking_Simulator/
-
Beermaster: Beer Brewing Simulator, a "x simulator" style casual beer homebrew sim that I found a real joy to play, and is VERY explicit about how the process works https://store.steampowered.com/app/1569200/Brewmaster_Beer_Brewing_Simulator/
-
The Brew Barons: This isn't realistic at ALL and also isn't out yet but I had a blast playing the demo, it's a great blend of arcadey flying and bar-running. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1636710/The_Brew_Barons/
I'd love to hear if anyone else has favs that aren't on this list
