ahaha oh my god that old Aura Classic™ twokinds kinda lookin avatar
precious!
it is by far the most unhealthily obsessed I have ever been with a game lmao
How did ranking even work in osu? Was it about "beating other players" in multiplayer? Or just having the highest number of high scores?
it's purely additive top score across all songs combined which means that the first threshhold is "did you play literally everything" and the 2nd threshhold quickly became "okay but can you score a full combo on all the impossibly hard stuff" because osu combos are (were?) multiplicative so if you have a 1000x combo or whatever you get 1000x points
this meant that SUPER HARD/super long/etc songs on the highest difficulty had a really outsized impact
this was back before osu had TOOO huge of a song library the way it does today so it mostly devolved into a fight among the top 10 or so players to see who could full combo the most unrealistically difficult stuff
Hahahaha wow that's a crazy way to do it
I can definitely see how that would lead to burnout
in that sense I'm glad you're making the game you are because if iNiS made another elite beat agents I'm not sure I could enjoy it anymore lmao
