Animation Lead on Wanderstop! She/Her & Transgenderrific! Past: Radial Games, Gaslamp Games

if I could give one protip to indie developers, especially solo devs, it'd be to once in awhile put your game on a tv and sit across the room from it on a couch. is it still readable? Do you have to strain to make out words? If so, you are officially going to get failed out of the steam deck compatibility test and people are going to complain about your text size. Fix that shit early!!!

Or even just squint a bit and make sure the text doesn't instantly vanish.

Make sure the text is nice and large and has good contrast compared to whatever's behind it. Also no stupid display fonts for large amounts of text.

There are so many things that are easy to do that will make everyone's lives easier. Game Maker's Toolkit has a few videos on video game accessibility, and the ones on visual accessibility and auditory accessibility have so many good tips when it comes to making text readable.

Actually just watch his whole Accessibility playlist; https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLc38fcMFcV_vvWOhMDriBlVocTZ8mKQzR&si=hWoDBStK3Pha7lks
