idk if the Steelseries does that but i'd assume the Keychron/Epomaker do so like, even if their keycaps are opaque you can easily swap them with another set later (even if backlit/see through keycaps set are few and far between sadly).
However I know I was a big "i need backlit keys" guy until I got keycaps that were black-text-on-white-background and 90% of the time the light of my monitor(s) are enough to make them readable at night. Might not apply but it's something to think about.
Also WASDKeyboards have a-with-numpad-layout (I forgot how it's called? 100% layout?) option and they also offer backlight if I remember correctly, could be worth looking into https://www.wasdkeyboards.com/products/mechanical-keyboards.html
I'm not sure I'll ever be a keycap replacement type person, tbh, haha
I'll give that site a look!
i haven't used any of them but someone i know was looking for keyboards and got recommended keychron in comments so i guess that's at least one real world user recommend?
keychron makes solid stuff according to everyone I know who has one and I've considered them myself (I opted to build one instead)! if you want to fall down the firmware/layout customization hole they're not ideal but by no means bad, and given you're going for this many keys I would wager that's not a huge priority for you.
I had a smaller keychron like 4 years ago and the bluetooth connection was pretty flaky. Maybe the newer ones have fixed that, but probably worth searching whether other people have encountered that problem. The K10 says it has BT 5.1 so it's probably fine tbh
(also fwiw I like Nuphy's keyboards a lot. Dunno how you feel about low-profile keys but their designs are really pretty)
huh, interesting designs re nuphy but the SUPER compact design kind of isn't my style, haha
good to know re the bluetooth!
Former electronics store employee here. Steelseries is overpriced, their customization software is so bloated it makes Razer Synapse look like a DOS program, and the keyboard doesn't have the sound dampening of the above two options. I'd recommend going for the Keychron, it's the only keyboard here that uses the (open-source and very lightweight) QMK/VIA software, and the opaque keycaps can be swapped out.
Although you should be aware that the K10 Pro wireless is Bluetooth-only. If you want a fullsize keyboard with 2.4G wireless and are fine with an all-plastic build, then you should get their V6 Max for $141 CAD.
