as someone who will never watch the fallout show and does not care: the idea of arguing about "canonicity" in a bethesda series is deeply funny to me.

Bethesda's philosophy towards canon is that whatever happened in the last game, it all exploded off screen to make sure that they don't have to take it into account this time around. None of this shit is ever going to affect a game you play in any way except throwaway references. They will work incredibly hard to make sure it doesn't. They blew up the entirety of morrowind just so they wouldn't have to talk or think about it anymore

this is true but also in the specific context of Fallout I think the impulse to blow everything up is particularly and specifically annoying because of how it's couched... I need to finish hate watching the show so I can write about this at more length

This kinda reminds me of how the Might & Magic franchise was a fantasy setting that was secretely a sci-fi setting, but then when Ubisoft bought they just deleted the sci-fi part
