I don't really know what to make of square enix's new, vaguely stated plans, but mass layoffs in the NA publishing organization are... concerning. They already, frankly, do an incredibly poor job of marketing many of their games over here. Cutting resources even more seems... dubious

Talking about trying to make multiplatform more of a focus while also firing employees abroad sure sound like... uhh... Like how do they think that multiplatform approach is gonna work out?
Unless they're hoping the platforms themselves do more of the marketing of the games the way Nintendo often felt like it was doing Square Enix's marketing for them with some of the Switch Square Enix titles(as there's been a lot of games that in America it felt like Nintendo was doing much more to actually promote the game than Square Enix America was doing for.... any of the platforms the games were even releasing on).
I have absolutely no ideas.
