I played a game recently that had autosaves and that message but also let you save the game yourself but near as I can tell, just saved the autosave point again
this stuff makes me scream lmao

Hades II with its imprecise "last saved less than a minute ago" is somehow even worse, making me walk between rooms several times just to feel at east before closing.

Journaling and atomic writes have been things for freaking decades!! Why aren't you using them!!!
It's amazing the amount of times I've had to google "Do I have to save? Can I save? How do I save?" in the last few years. I think saving UX in general is becoming a lost art
