trying to figure out whether switching FF14 to DLSS (and off of FSR) fixing my longstanding shimmering problems with every bush in the entire game is a good thing or a sign it's mysteriously rendering at a lower resolution for no reason and then blurring it

No noticable difference for me - still a shimmery nightmare with any FSR setting lmao
the new temporal non-dlss/fsr/upscaling antialiasing method they added also fixes it, but i think the game absolutely looks best with dlss out of all the options.
If you otherwise liked the way FSR worked, a bunch of Sony games just implemented FSR 3.1 (which comes with an upscaler that's better at avoiding that shimmering effec), so there's hope that FFXIV eventually gets it, too
