It's always very funny to me when a CEO announces they're making something 'open source" because by and large I don't think they necessarily know what that means. Sure. Your source is available.
- How is it licensed? Can anyone actually use it themselves? Do they have to pay you?
- Are you investing resources into maintaining your public repo and fixing bugs that outsiders report? Or is it just a press opp for your company
- Are you willing to accept outside contributions/PRs? Under what terms? Are contributors paid?
In this article he talks about it more like he thinks it's unreal engine. "It's up to the developers to decide what to make with it" he optimistically declares. Okay, but. If I make something with it can I commericalize it without your permission? Can I fork it and make my own engine?
Or is this just an optimistic ploy to get people to license your platform?
