Most of us are humans, and we all seem to change back to our “default forms” over time, even recovering from transformations that would otherwise be permanent.

ok, this is just describing which moon phase is the highest for each season
so the moon phases happen all the time, it's just that the waxing halfmoon, the eveningmoon, is most prominent on the spring equinox for example.
