Well then, I'll share my idea:
So you know how Bug Type Pokémon oft go through a three part phase, of grub, cocoon, then full grown bug?
Well, what if you went through all three phases in the course of an entire TF?
Maybe it'll give you breaks in-between each TF, to appreciate each form, or maybe it'll just keep going until you reach the final bug?
Anyway, so that's why you're becoming a Scatterbug right now.

Her mouth doesn’t open right anymore, and the inside’s all weird. Her eyes are strange too… The distorted whimpers of the somewhat upset witch go to show just how much is really changing inside her body, though her robes make it hard to see once she begins to shrink… and shrink… and shrink!
A rather frightened and disturbed Scatterbug emerges from the green pile of fabrics. There is no visible indication that this Pokémon is actually Gem.
