I’ve been playing some “survivor-like”/“bullet heaven” games recently (for Research Purposes), and my most recent one is 20 Minutes Till Dawn. There are quite a few playable characters in the game (I wanna say about a dozen), and one that stands out to me (for reasons that’ll soon be obvious) is Dasher.
Dasher’s gimmick is that she periodically turns into a huge deer, foregoing the use of weapons in favor of running around and stomping everything to death. It’s no poof tf, either, she’s mostly obscured by a flash of light when she changes but you can see her silhouette inside shifting from one shape to the other. After several seconds of that, she changes back. The transformation lasts kind of a while, with the time between them being surprisingly short. It honestly feels like you spend anywhere from 25-50% of your time in the deer form when playing as Dasher.
So yeah, she’s a tf character, plus she has cool antlers, plus she has a very soft-looking cloak. All things that give me great neuron activation. One thing I noticed is that if your weapon runs out of ammo right before transforming, it won’t automatically reload while you’re a deer… but it will reload the moment your reversion back into a human starts. I like the idea of Dasher getting her weapon ready as soon as her hooves are even close to being usable again. Like she takes both of her forms, and the ordeal of living through the night, very seriously. “I might not quite have fingers again yet but when I do they’re gonna be squeezing this trigger so I gotta try to get ready for that right away!” That sorta thing.
… Also, mechanically speaking, I’m not actually sure I like Dasher all that much, heh. Running over things is kinda less interesting than what the game’s weapons have going on, so it’s kinda just… less of the cool thing… But she’s the funny tf character so I just had to post about her :P
