Concentrated atomic breath razed its way like a laser through the financal district. Anythin it struck glowed a brief iridescent turqiouse then seemed to melt. It didn't matter what it was. Glass, concrete, the sidewalks. They all became a melted puddle.

The creature it belonged to was not Godzilla. It wasn't even related despite appearing similar, down to the spines on its back. In the light of a full moon, its scales shone an iridecent black and its fierce blue eyes glowed intensely as it surveyed the giant mech that had been sent to chase it off. Fora moment, it grinned a lizardly smile.

It's tail strike had sent the giant robot back into a tunnel created by the destruction of several skyscrapers. It was prone. On its back. Near the large metallic hands, the long lance that was the weapon of choice was smashed, partly melted. It was unusuable.

In the cockpit, Tyler was safe, but for how long. Alarms blared as he surveyed the damage. At last.. Oh ouch. It was at least 70% damage and backup power was failing. He tapped in frantic commands and groaned. Now the long distance laser beam was out of action.

No lance. No laser beam. The shielding was at 20% but if power failed, it was zero.

Come on, he murmured to himself. Hands moved over consoles, fingers tapped out urgent commands. Slowly, the legs moved. Then the arms.

'Alright. You haven't got me yet!'

Slow, so painfully slow but he was upright. The ground shook as the heavy limbs laned and strode towards the iridescent lizard. It watched with a malevolent leer.

'Not... yet!'

One arm, sparking at points began to swing into position.

The giant monster beagn to crouch and advance. Skyscrapers shook and swayed. One or two fell from the heavy swaying tail.

Almost there... The other arm raised as if to shield.

The lizard roared and its mouth glowed.

Just a little more!

The lizard dived forward and-

It foun itself looking at dark clouds and moonlit skies. The glow faded quickly as its raedied attack was diverted into a sudden closing of the jaw it ad not intended. It swivelled its head to the mech and its pilot and opened its jaw, aiming instead to bite.

A right hook put paid to that. Then some swift jabs and a harder, oh so much harder left hook.

It's arms flailed uselessly. It wasn't used to this! It especially was not used to the quick hook to its stomach as it crumpled and crashed to the city below. It roared its fury and confusion as it tried to get up.

Bam! Another mean left hook and it's head almost spun off-

'CUT! Hold it there.'

The director called out through the megaphone and two of the costume dept headed up to the lizard.

'What the hell, man?' The voice insie the lizard costume became less muffled as the head was lifted off. Inside, a redfaced man who sp[orted some light buising already. 'You're meant to pull your punches! I felt that last one!'

The mech became a man weariga very elaborate costome as ghe too removed the head, huffing audibly to catch his breath. 'I was! You just leaned into them, I saw that. Do you have any idea how often I practised this?'

'Not enough.' The other man muttered, letting a cloth be dabbed over his sweaty brow. 'Try wearing this. You try judging where I should be at any given moment weaing mostly padding that somehow you still managed to punch through.'

'Look I'm sorry, okay? I used to do boxing, I just got into it to much. I-'

'Can it. I don't care.' He swatted the two frantically trying to adjust the costume and stormed off.

'Take 5.' The director sighed wearily and pinched the bridge of his nose. 'Can someone talk to those two, get some sense into them?'
