i think the thing that really gets me about both witch hat atelier and howl's moving castle (really all of Diana Wynne Jones's books) is that magic is at once extremely commonplace and also exciting and beautiful and whimsical. it makes me so, SOOOOOOOOO incredibly emotional in a way i can't really explain.
i love wonder, i love excitement. i love seeing something for its boundless potential rather than for its limitations. it's so fucking soul-replenishing
