@whom and I are watching the X-Files and this is my appreciation post for S1E7: Ghost in the Machine, which came off as a semi-love letter to 2001: A Space Odyssey and the general concept of AI gaining sentience.
Things in this episode include:
- Scully drawing on a Trinitron monitor's screen with a marker
- copious camerawork that's obviously paying affection to HAL
- cool visual overload stuff
- creepy cameras
I thought this show was cool by the end of the pilot, I was sold on watching a full season by the end of like episode 3, but now I'm sold on watching all of it. Was under the impression that it would stick to specifically alien stuff for a while but it has very quickly shattered that notion (in a good way). :)
