- webring model, but like, with some sort of facilitation/dead link handling/making sure the chain's intact instead of hoping that static html block everyone copied stays good and leaving it 100% up to each webzone nerdlord on their own to determine who's "next" and "previous"
- irc model, where you have One service and multiple "independent" servers sharing and distributing the load with multi way links/agreements (instead of separate island fiefdoms and ad hoc relays between them) and yet still having the ability for some of those bits to remain locally instead of always distributing globally (within that network of servers)

EDIT: also by irc model i don't mean chat. I DON'T MEAN CHAT. especially not discord. holy fuck discord is 100% not irc beyond "has a chat with usernames and channels and servers you can join and leave"
