glad I don't need anything from this one safeway freezer door. everything inside is completely covered in frost and the door is sealed shut with exuded ice. what the hell is happening here
The rubber gasket on the door ruptured, usually from old age and/or abuse. As such, the compressor is working overtime to keep the case cold, and condensation from the outside world collected up and froze on the area of the leak.
If you need something from that door? Ask a grocery clerk politely to break off the ice so the door can be opened. Back room should have some screw drivers that can be used as a makeshift ice pick. That plus a hammer of some sort is enough to bust off the majority of the ice. (I should know, we've had this happen before in our store a few times, and I was the one breaking the ice!)
The permanent fix is for that door to be replaced with a new one, which depends on how quickly the repair crew can get a new one...
