I wasn't in the best frame of mind when I wrote the original post. It still royally sucks Cohost has to go away and the wish for a site that both has the features it has AND the community it has begins anew, but there's so little I or anyone else can do about it it seems. So, here are some other places you can find me:

Pillowfort: https://www.pillowfort.social/Masakuni
Dreamwidth: https://masakunidragon.dreamwidth.org/ (may not be much but like Pillowfort, mainly for longform posts)
Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/masakunidragon (mainly LTTP rando races but am trying to branch out)
Tumblr: https://masakunidragon.tumblr.com/
Discord: masakuni (if you'd like to talk to me directly or invite me to your Discord server)
FurAffinity: https://www.furaffinity.net/user/masakuni
Itaku: https://itaku.ee/profile/masakuni
Mastodon: https://meow.social/@Masakuni
BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/masakuni.bsky.social
Twitter: https://x.com/MasakuniDragon (I know ElonTwitter sucks, but it's there, and I refuse to let Elon win so I'm trying to scratch out a little island of positivity in a sea of negativity)

Hopefully we'll meet again in one of these places, or somewhere else entirely. More than anything I'd want a place with such good features and such a great community like this again, maybe one day someone will make something, and I hope that someone gets to work on something like this sooner than later. But I'll continue to post here until I can't anymore. Until then, I'll see you all later.

W(h)elp, consider this your last call to follow me to one or more of these sites before the train leaves the station and the station becomes read-only.

I'm gonna miss this site so bad. It had nearly everything I wanted in a website in this day and age and it was designed as such getting on there was such a joy as opposed to an obligation because certain other hellsites had too much inertia to shed every user no matter how bad it got or reliant on toxic engagement it got. I'm hoping to take what I learned here and use it on other sites, but for one reason or another it's not going to be easy to replicate the chill vibes this site had despite any of my best efforts.

Please follow me at any of the above sites to keep in touch with me. If I get the time or the skills to, maybe I'll make a website myself, but I dunno where to start, but if I do make one, I'll announce it elsewhere.

Thank you Cohost, for everything. I'll always remember you, Eggbug.

Until we meet again, keep looking out and you might find a little dragon skipping about ready to go on an adventure.

What the actual fuck?

Like I know I haven't been posting here a lot but...why? Aside from people not adopting it for whatever reason, why?

Like, this was nearly perfect. After Tumblr all but imploded, and every other site having character limits, I waited for god knows how long for a site where I could post longer form thoughts, without worrying about algorithms and shit, without worrying about whether people would namesearch and start a flamewar over it or accidentally make it viral and be swarmed by thousands of people wanting to start a flamewar. Cohost seemed to have almost all that I was looking for, not only a solid replacement for Tumblr but also Livejournal, very good tagging, no algorithms, just a chill place where I can control what I put in my feed and what I see, and I can post stuff without worrying about unneeded virality or antagonism

Apparently the framework of the internet is so cooked that the vast majority of people think differently, they don't want what I want in a site, there must be something wrong with me, for the near perfect representation of what I want in a site to not be financially feasible or viable and I ask, why?

Where can I go now to get a close approximation of what I wanted, especially in a longform? I have Twitter and BlueSky and Mastodon but these have character limits, I have to thread longform posts, Tumblr is a nearly-dead joke, LJ is exponentially more of a long nearly-dead joke. If there is nothing, can someone make a site similar to it? If not, why not?
