Reject modernity, embrace tradition old ass software whose docs ans tutorials may or may not be lost to time
RPG Maker 95 has better resolution than RPG Maker 2000. You should use it instead. (I'm joking and showing how old I am)
but 2003 is easier to crowbar into doing unspeakable horrors that the engine was never meant to do like custom variable based battle systems that actually avoid a battle scene entirely (aren't you younger than I am)
2003 definitely had better plugins than 2000 did, it's true. (Only on my birth certificate. In my heart of hearts I am older than you.)
I think easyrpg can run 2003 games, so it’s not necessarily a bad choice for a modern project
