At uni my graph theory lecturer would refer to trivial graphs as degenerate, and I always thought that was very rude.
My electric conductivity course TA would call over-doped semiconductors degenerate.
Turns out he was a bit too into it because a few weeks later he had a full-on homophobic transphobic rant in class
