daria said "well my mst3k rips are really old" and i said "i mean how old can they be" and then i was absolutely leveled by the fucking codec properties she sent me

this is divx 3, and you can only know that if you look up the program that generated it, because divx didn't have its own fourcc, because it was just a binary hacked version of microsoft's nonstandard mpeg4 codec.

also they're fucking 480x360. if you thump one of these files it emits volcanic dust from mount vesuvius

Dare I ask what the audio format is?

Once I had some really old anime fansubs that were like this and I freaking swear the audio format was cursed beyond all recovery. It was weird divx audio codec that absolutely nothing supported

on syys which has a 447MHz pentium II, we got 360p30 h.264 off of youtube playing just barely, so I highly doubt it

EDIT: also, I remember having trouble playing some not-even-HD video on a low-end pentium III already 10 years ago. I sometimes couldn't stream using mplayer without excessive framedrops, so I had to download the file and use ffmpeg to convert to mpeg4 video
